(Unila): The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of the University of Lampung (Unila) successfully held a carnival and art festival in commemoration of the 58th anniversary of FKIP Unila on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

The event was held in the courtyard of the FKIP Traditional House and was the fourth carnival and art festival that has been held regularly since 2023.
Not only did this event enliven the FKIP anniversary celebration, but it also represented the creativity and love of the academic community for the preservation of national culture.

The event began with the rector being picked up via a carnival on the road to the traditional house. This year’s FKIP anniversary celebration carried the theme “Pesona Sai Bumi Ruwa Jurai” (The Charm of Sai Bumi Ruwa Jurai), which was also enlivened by various entertainment, including a fashion show of Lampung tapis and national traditional clothing participated in by study programs within FKIP.

This event served as a form of preservation of siger and tapis cloth as characteristics of local culture. There were also dance performances as a form of preserving various cultures of the archipelago.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, D.E.A., IPM., ASEAN Eng., as the Rector of Unila, in her speech and officially opening the series of events, expressed her appreciation to all the committees, participants, and various parties who had contributed to the success of this event.

“Thank you for the participation of all parties. This is extraordinary and proves our unity and commitment in preserving culture and fostering social awareness at the University of Lampung,” she said.

She emphasized that the 58th anniversary of FKIP Unila was not merely a celebration, but also rich in life values, as reflected in the carnival and art festival involving 31 study programs within FKIP, with 15 of them accredited as Excellent.

On this occasion, humanitarian aid was also distributed to affected communities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, with a total donation of Rp60 million, Rp20 million per province.

The donation came from contributions from students, lecturers, and educational staff, including worship equipment and cooking utensils, which are planned to be sent to Aceh soon.

The rector hopes that the aid will ease the burden on the victims. “Hopefully, our brothers and sisters will be given strength in facing this trial, and the aid collected will be a tangible manifestation of the concern and solidarity of the Unila family,” she said.

Dean of FKIP Unila Dr. Albet Maydiantoro, M.Pd., said that the carnival and art festival held this year represent the philosophy of togetherness and cultural diversity of Lampung within the FKIP Unila community.

He explained that the celebration featured a variety of cultural expressions, ranging from the traditions of Lampung Saibatin and Pepadun to traditional Indonesian clothing, involving around 1,850 students and lecturers from all study programs at FKIP.

He also hoped that this activity could strengthen the synergy of all FKIP Unila residents and provide space for the development of local arts and cultural creativity and express appreciation for the involvement of all parties while stating.

“Thank you for the participation of all parties. This is extraordinary, proving the solidarity and commitment of the FKIP family in preserving culture while fostering social awareness,” he concluded. [Gandhi Irawan]
