(Unila): The Impactful Student Program Team of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the University of Lampung (Unila) successfully presented the results of their national-level organic waste management innovations.

This achievement was showcased at the Impact Seminar of the Impactful Student Program for the Fiscal Year 2025, organized by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) of the Republic of Indonesia.

The event, in collaboration with Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD), took place in Yogyakarta from June 5 to 7, 2026.

Out of a total of 263 funding proposals selected nationally, the Unila team was honored to be among the 60 best teams in Indonesia invited specifically to present their accomplishments, innovations, and the tangible impacts of their programs before the national assessment team.

During this scientific forum, the BEM Unila team presented their flagship program titled “Transformation of Organic Waste as a Green Innovation for Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, and Village-Based Economy Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.

This community service program had previously been successfully implemented in Pasar Krui Village, Pesisir Barat District, Lampung Province, from October to November 2025.

The innovation emerged from the students’ concern regarding the issues of market organic waste and fish waste in coastal areas that had not been optimally utilized.

Through a community empowerment scheme, the student team, together with their supervising lecturers, developed two high-value green innovation products: Rafnila (Rebio Fertilizer Animal Feed Unila), a quality livestock feed product utilizing organic waste formulas.

Additionally, there is Refnila (Rebio Fertilizer Unila), an environmentally friendly liquid organic fertilizer (POC) aimed at supporting agricultural productivity. The impact seminar was conducted in a hybrid format.

Field Supervisor, Yusuf Perdana, M.Pd., along with student representatives, attended in person at Ahmad Dahlan University in Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, other team members, local government representatives, and targeted partners from Pasar Krui Village participated in the assessment remotely from Lampung.

During the online testimonial session, the targeted partners from Pasar Krui Village expressed profound appreciation. The community reported acquiring new knowledge and technical skills in transforming waste into productive commodities capable of creating new economic opportunities in their village.

The representatives of the Impactful Student Program Team of BEM Unila expressed gratitude and pride in achieving the national seminar stage.

“This nearly one-year journey has provided extraordinary learning experiences, from program preparation, collaboration dynamics in the field, to successfully launching the Rafnila and Refnila innovations. We hope these products can continue to be developed sustainably for the benefit of the environment and community economy,” they stated.

The participation of the BEM Unila Team in this national event serves as a concrete demonstration that innovations from the academic community of the Green Campus do not remain mere ideas on paper, but are actualized into tangible solutions for society.

This achievement simultaneously reinforces Unila’s commitment to supporting the acceleration of the tridharma (three pillars) of higher education through innovative, collaborative, and sustainable community service. [Gandhi Irawan]
