(Unila): The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) through the Directorate of Resources, Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology (DitjenDiktiristek) released the participants of the Higher Education Leadership Capacity Building (PKKPT) programme for Rectors 2024 on Saturday, 20 April 2024.

The programme, which was held in Jakarta, is a strategic step to advance the university reputation as a world class university (WCU).

PKKPT refers to the program aimed to improve rectors’ leadership capacity through a sustainable approach to good corporate governance, learning, research, contribution to community life, and continuous improvement in networking and collaboration with stakeholders.

The program was attended by 17 rectors of state universities (PTN) in Indonesia, two of whom are Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani and Prof. I Nyoman Pugeg Aryantha, the rectors of the Universitys of Lampung (Unila) and the Sumatra Institute of Technology (Itera), respectively.

Director General of Higher Education, Abdul Haris said that a rector or university leader has very important roles, both as an academic leader and entrepreneur, the two of which need to be coherent in managing tridarma (three pillars) of higher education in terms of teaching, research, and community service so that a good academic reputation should be achieved which in turn will transform into independently managed state universities (PTN-BH).

The PKPPT held in Seoul National University (SNU), South Korea is expected to contribute to more concrete cooperation in supporting the education transformation in Indonesia.

In the same occasion, Director of Resources, M. Sofwan, insisted on the importance of rector’s improving entrepreneurship capacity particularly, human resource management as the basis to manage higher education. [PR Team]
