(Unila): The Education and Culture Attaché Office (Atdikbud) of the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra again held the ambassador goes to campus activity on Friday, March 1 2024. The Indonesian ambassador to Australia and the Republic of Vanuatu visited campus to meet with university leaders and to provide students and academic staff with sharing sessions.
The program is intended as an initiative to promote collaboration between Australian and Indonesian universities to foster the quality of education in Indonesia. The ambassador goes to campus event was put in place on March 1, 2024 both at Deakin and Monash Universities the locations of which are in Melbourne, Australia.
The state of Victoria is home to the preeminent universities in Australia, Monash and Deakin University. Deakin University is in an attempt to open a branch campus in Indonesia in the near future and is undertaking preparations to commence student recruitment for its forthcoming campus located in Bandung.
Monash University has established the branch campus in Jakarta and Deakin University is to establish its branch campus in Bandung in the near future. The collaboration between Unila, Monash, and Deakin Universities is expected to enhance academic cultures of universities in Indonesia.
So far, campuses in Java have actively established collaboration with a number of universities in Australia and universities out of Java are also encouraged to establish collaboration with universities in Australia.
In a meeting with the Chancellor of Deakin University, the Indonesian Ambassador to Australia, Siswo Pramono, Ph.D., conveyed the importance of cooperation between Indonesia and Australia, especially in the fields of education and research.
Indonesia may take advantages from a demographic advantage through the provision of high-quality education. The collaboration between universities in both countries is expected to expedite the acquisition of high-caliber individuals which in turn contributes positively to the economies and development of both nations. Indonesia and Australia could also engage in joint research endeavors aimed at mitigating the consequences of climate change.
Professor Lusmeilia Afriani, chancellor of Unila, presented the university’s internationalization profile and agenda, insisting on promoting collaboration between Unila and Australian leading universities, such as Deakin and Monash Universities so that Unila can take advantages of the collaboration.
Meanwhile, the President of Deakin University, Professor Iain Martin, was wildly enthusiastic about establishing research collaborations with universities in Indonesia. [PR Team]
