(Unila): Lampung University (Unila) students continue to make achievements in various fields, one of which is in the essay competition. Dewi Latifah, student majoring in Biology Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) class of 2020, achieved two achievements simultaneously in this field.
These achievements include 1st place in the 2023 Gempita National Essay Competition organized by the Exact Education Student Association (Himasakta) FKIP Unila, as well as winning 3rd place in the Call for Essay Inkish Vol 10.0 by Malang State University.
The Gempita Competition refers to a national level essay competition organized by Himasakta FKIP Unila with the aim of establishing external relations, increasing motivation for achievement, competitiveness in education, as well as giving awards to students, university students and the general public who excel.
In this competition, Dewi raised the issue of the creative economy, proposing an innovative functional drink based on Kombucha tea from Robusta coffee leaves to improve the creative economy in Lampung.
The idea initially came up from her observations of coffee farmers in Lampung who get used to throwing away coffee leaves shortly after harvest. According to her, coffee leaves can used as a new innovation so that coffee leaf waste has economic value and is beneficial for health.
Meanwhile, call for essay Inkish Vol 10.0 is a national level essay competition involving various universities in Indonesia, with the aim of encouraging innovation from the younger generation to realize a Golden Indonesia 2045.
In her essay this time, Dewi discusses the role of the younger generation in sorting out the problems in the era of society 5.0 towards a golden Indonesia 2045.
Dewi Latifah expressed her feelings of joy and happiness for her taking part in this prestigious competition at the national level and it motivated her to continue working and to increase her relationships with friends from other universities.
Dewi with hobby of writing and discussions also recognizes the importance of writing activities in her education and preparation for her future career.
For her, writing plays an important role for students to support their achievement in their study and future career as almost all of lecture activities require writing skills. Participating in an essay writing competition trained students to improve writing skills.
