(Unila): The delegation from the University of Lampung (Unila) made a visit to the Centre for Policy Research and International Studies (CenPRIS) located at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

The purpose of the two-day tour was to examine the possibilities for collaboration in the areas of social sciences, arts, music, and Indonesian culture between the two universities.

The Unila delegation was represented by two Unila’s lecturers, Dr. Riyan Hidayatullah and Prof. Ari Darmastuti.

They also presented papers in  a global conference hosted by CenPRIS USM, centered around the topic of the International Nusantara Malay Archipelago Seminar Series.

Dr. Riyan Hidayatullah discussed the traditions and styles of Malay music as practiced by the Lampung people.

In the present discourse, Professor Ari Darmastuti engages in an examination of the influential factors and distribution patterns pertaining to Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) originating from the region of Lampung.

The panel discussion featured Muhammad Asyraf Mohd Bakri, a distinguished speaker, Assoc. Prof. Mohammad Reevany Bustami, the designated moderator, and Dani Wijaya, acting as the president of the USM Indonesian Student Association.

The delegation from Unila also engaged in an official dialogue with the staff of the Centre for Policy Research and International Studies (CenPRIS) at the University of Science Malaysia (USM) to promote potential collaborations within the realm of arts and culture.

The collaboration is expected to encompass a program for the exchange of students and staff between Unila and USM.

The visit concluded with the formalization of an agreement through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the University of Lampung (Unila) and the University of Science Malaysia (USM) in the assembly hall of the USM School of The Arts (SOTA).

The MoU was witnessed by USM top officials among others, Professor Dr. Sarena Binti Abdullah, the Dean of the School of the Arts (SOTA) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Dr. Norfarizah Binti Mohd Bakhir, Deputy Dean (Research, Innovation & Community), Associate Professor. Muhizam Bin Mustafa, Dr. Julina Binti Ismail Kamal, the Director of the International Mobility and Collaboration Center (IMCC) at USM, the Head of the New Media Design and Technology Department, and Dr. Nurul Hanim Binti Md Romainoor, the Head of the Graphic Communications Department.
