(Unila): Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani, the Rector of the University of Lampung (Unila), gained  an appreciation from the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) Worldwide for her presentation in the panel discussion titled “Building the Educational Roadmap in Indonesia: Enhancing the Quality of Education and Indonesian Human Resources,” held on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

The panel discussion was part of PPI Worldwide’s Alumni Connect event, which took place in the Grand Ballroom of BNI Tower Pejompongan, Central Jakarta.

Among those in attendance were Tedi Bharata, Deputy for Human Resources, Technology, and Information of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises; Prof. Edy Giri Rachman Putra, Deputy for Human Resources of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN); Puteri Anetta Komarudin, B.Com., Member of the Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI); and the Rector of YARSI University, Prof. Fasli Jalal.

Prof. Lusmeilia in her presentation emphasized the significance of collaboration between universities and stakeholders in preparing the Indonesian society for global competition.

According to her, a university has a responsible for not only  enhancing the caliber of education but also promoting collaboration between universities, government, society, corporations, and Commission X of the DPR RI for the sake of  the advancement of education in Indonesia.

Prof. Lusmeilia described a number of education-related issues in Indonesia, including problems with respect to educational equity, the relevance of education, infrastructure facilities, educator welfare, and curriculum complexity.

Lusmelia pointed out Unila’s policies to increase the community’s total enrollment rate in higher education such as, extending the campus’s reach to additional regions and awarding scholarships to students pursuing higher education.

She also showed Unila’s willingness to participate in international cooperation in pursuit of superior performance. The cooperation includes financial, pedagogical, and social collaborations, among others, to support the research activities of students and faculty.

In addition, the University of Lampung is continually making an attempt to have its technology and network systems advanced to extend educational opportunities and learning experiences across geographies. [PR Team]
