(Unila): Center for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of the University of Lampung (Unila) held a seminar and discussion on National Research Policy and Agenda for 2023, Saturday 1 April 2023.

The seminar was officially opened by the Chancellor of Unila, Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani and was attended by Unila’s Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Unila’s Deputy Chancellor for General Affairs and Finance, the deans and their deputies, the Postgraduate Director, the lecturers, Chair of Balitbangda Lampung Province, representatives of the LPPM of Malahayati University, Muhammadiyah University, Darmajaya and Umitra.

Head of LP2M Unila, Dr. Habibullah Jimad, reported that this event was motivated by the transformation of policies and systems built by the Directorate of Research, Technology and Community Service (DRTPM) of the Directorate General of Higher Education.

LPPM needs to keep researchers informed of transformations so that they update the existing policies and systems at Unila. This seminar was to develop a future research agenda in line with the tagline of LPPM, the center of excellence through collaborative multi-stakeholder research.

The keynote speaker of the seminar and discussion was Director of Research, Technology and Community Service DRTPM Directorate General of Higher Education, Prof. M. Faiz Syuaib.

Prof Lusmeilia said that Unila has approximately 1200 lecturers and 95% of whom conduct research every year due to the policy of obligation to conduct research. LPPM has provided lecturers with funding to conduct a great deal of research schemes and funding for the MBKM scheme has also been provided by the Minister of Education and Culture.

Prof Lusi also wishes that more funding would be granted by DRPM. On the same occasion, she also reported the progress made by LPPM Unila, such as collaboration with the government and professionals, collaboration with foreign universities in coffee research by building a consortium with Syah Kuala University, Hasanuddin University, Gadjah Mada University, IPB, Jember University and the collaboration with a number of NGOs and philanthropic institutions, such as the Bakrie Center Foundation and the Indonesian Rhino Initiative in carrying out a joint movement for tuberculosis control and implementing ecosystems in Way Kambas National Park.
