(Unila): UPT Lampung University Library (Unila) is a subscriber to ScienceDirect, Elsevier’s top worldwide journal platform. Unila academics are allowed to get access to e-journals in 24 fields of study for free for one month, from June 6 to June 30, 2022.
According to Dr. eng. Khairudin, S.T., M.Sc., Head of the Unila Library, ScienceDirect is a journal and e-book database that now has 2,600 journals organised into 24 collections with over 1.4 million articles and 40,000 e-books.
According to him, at the initial stage, the Unila library subscribes to three science collections among ScienceDirect’s 24 collections. However, during the first month, ScienceDirect offers free access to all collections from June 6 through June 30, 2022.
As a result, he encouraged the Unila academic community to take advantage of this opportunity by using ScienceDirect to access multiple e-journals and e-books.
Unila academics can access the collections of journals and e-books on ScienceDirect by opening the sciencedirect.com website and then filling in the available search forms, which include keywords, author name, journal/book, volume, and issue.
According to Khairudin, ScienceDirect’s search and retrieval tools area includes complex document search functions such as integrated information with external sources in the form of audio, video, and data sets.
Prof. Ir. Suharso, S.Si., Ph.D., Vice Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation, and ICT Unila, stated that it is vital for lecturers to have access to the most recent papers as research references in so that the quality and quantity of research for the academic community at the University of Lampung should be improved which in turn will enable professors and students to compete on a worldwide scale.
