(Unila): Hundreds of Lampung students took part in the olympics and the fast and accurate competition (LCT) which were held by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) and the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Unila.

The olympics and LCT events corresponded to Unila’s 57th anniversary celebration. The 2022 science, mathematics and computer olympiad (Osamakom) held by FMIPA on 15-17 September 2022, was followed by some 481 students from 12 regencies and cities in Lampung Province.

Chief executive of osamakom 2022, Dr. Ilim said that some 481 high school students who participated in osamakom came from 62 schools. The students were competing in the Olympiad of the Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, followed by 111, 108, 100, 89, and 73 participants respectively.

The technical meeting of osamakom was made online as the preparation of the Olympiad and it was particularly intended to inform the participants about technical activities and venue of every single field.

There are two stages of the olympiad competition to follow, preliminary and final. The final stage was made offline at the FMIPA on September 17.

The students who were eligible to compete in the final stage were those who had the highest five scores and were representatives from each district/city. MAN Insan Cendekia from East Lampung won two gold medals in the fields of physics and computer science.

Meanwhile, the XXXV Mathematics and Natural Sciences Quick Accuracy Competition which was held by FKIP on Monday, 19 September 2022, was attended by 51 schools from 11 regencies/cities, i.e., Bandar Lampung city with 15 schools, Metro city, 2, Pesawaran, 3, Pringsewu, 4, Tanggamus, 1, and Waykanan, 3, Tulang Bawang Barat, 1, South Lampung, 8, Central Lampung, 7, East Lampung, 5. and North Lampung, 2.

The event with the theme “Building Sportive, Collaborative, and Adaptive Young Scientists Towards a Center of Excellence” was officially opened by the Vice Chancellor for General Affairs and Finance, Prof. Asep Sukohar.

According to Prof. Asep, LCT constitutes an annual agenda of FKIP particularly to lively commemorate the anniversary of the University of Lampung.

“I do appreciate the schools for their participation in the competition. God willing, next year, the fast-paced competition is reopened in more numbers of faculties so that the number of participants is expected to continue to raise,” he said. [PR Team]
