(Unila): The University of Lampung (Unila) initiates collaboration with the Indonesian Employer Association (Apindo) Lampung to improve student’s competency and to boost the advancement of micro small medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The collaboration first undertaken between Unila and Apindo Lampung would be executed through the Independent Campus, Freedom to Learn (MBKM) program.

Prof. Karomani, the Rector of Unila, warmly welcome a visit by Ary Meizaro Alfian, M.B.A , chairman of Apindo Lampung along with representatives of the industrial sector and MSMEs to reach an agreement in his office, Monday, June 21, 2021.

According to him, the collaboration supports two-way program of MBKM in that not only do students serve apprenticeship in a company but also practitioners visit campus to share their experience and insights for the sake of our national interest.

The collaboration between higher education and enterprise is believed to have been one of the ways out to facilitate graduates to get a job or to be an entrepreneur, which in turn will promote the advancement of the nation.

The collaboration is also expected to improve the apprenticeship program that has not reached maximum results and to sort out the limited capacity of the industrial sectors to serve apprenticeship.

Another topic was also discussed, collaborative business development plan with Unila, Agro tourism Education “Lampung Edu Farm”, the combination of agro tourism and education taking advance of the potential of agricultural businesses to broaden knowledge, recreational experience, and business relationships in agriculture as tourism activities.

Agro tourism will be conducted in an integrated field laboratory of the Agriculture Faculty of Unila covering a 6 hectare-area. Agro tourism “Lampung Edu Farm” is expected to create a learning means to raise community awareness of local products of Lampung Province, such as agriculture, plantations, and livestock products, and  to restore Lampung tourism sectors.

The collaboration is also expected to facilitate Unila to carry out three pillars (Tri Darma) of higher education in terms of education, research, and community services and  to create a broader collaboration in business and industrial sectors. [PR Team]
