(Unila): The University of Lampung hosted Lampung WISH (World Indonesia Scholarship) 2019. The event concept had previously been carried out in a roadshow turning in some different provinces. However, Lampung became the 4th city that held this national movement. The event concerns on scholarship roadshow.
WISH is a forum for annual non-profit activities resulting from the collaboration and contributions of various parties. WISH facilitates the formation of collaborations between initiative ideas, programs, as well as activities for scholarship preparation from various parties. It focuses on the contributions from stakeholders in the education ecosystem and scholarships that have supporting resources.
This activity aims to increase the possibility of collaboration with various domestic and foreign stakeholders. Wish aims to enlarge and expand the impact of scholarship program initiatives for all Indonesian, especially youth.
This event was result of the collaboration between the Friends of Scholarship network, the Indonesian Scholarship Network, and also the University of Lampung as the roadshow venue. The committee of WISH Festival 2019, Sunarmo, S.E., M.Sc., explained that this event was intended to afford free information and literacy to the people in Lampung about scholarships.
He revealed, this event was initiated by the awardee of some scholarships and grants, one of them was from LPDP. “Our big goal is to contribute to the nation. By having proper education, millennials or youth, then, expected to take part together in developing our country optimally,” he explained, Saturday (07/13/2019).
Rector of Unila, Prof. Hasriadi Mat Akin, in his remarks, expressed his optimism that the golden generation of 2045 can be achieved. One of them is the presence of such a promotor like WISH that emerges from and for human resources development themselves. “So, if you want to advance a country, then advance your education,” he said.
Hasriadi also explained that the students should meet the required and sufficient provisions. Therefore, the students are advised to increase their competence, knowledge, and skills. The need for information about the scholarship is also essentials for the applicants. One of the ways to get it is by participating in the event like this.
Lampung Provincial Secretary, Fahrizal Darminto, added that the competition was getting more rigorous day by day. Scholarship hunters must be more competitive. This event is very strategic because it let the scholarship awardee gather and share with the participants.
Following the nations’ ideals, the focus of state development is towards human resources. Thus, Lampung Provincial Government supports the ideals by creating various programs to align development based on human resources.
