(Unila): The University of Lampung held a public lecture entitled “The Role of Palestinian Women in the Effort of Palestinian Independence & Liberation of Al-Quds”. The event took place in the main meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Rectorate Building on Saturday (04/27/2019).
The committee invited the Palestinian Ambassador for Indonesia Dr. Zuhair Alshun as a keynote speaker. On his presentation, Zuhair delivered a topic on political issues in Palestine and the State Independence and shared bilateral cooperation between Palestine and Indonesia.
Zuhair explained that women in Palestine have a strategic role in maintaining the spirit of the struggle of the Palestinian people in defending the homeland.
In addition to their psychological role, they are needed to keep the existence of Palestine in the eyes of the world. “They are very glorified. They pump up the spirit of struggle and provide aspirations for the people who are struggling against colonialism,” Zuhair said.
Zuhair also appreciates the solidarity of the Indonesian people who have never stopped supporting Palestine both morally and materially.
For example, he said, one of the alumni of the Faculty of Engineering of Unila named Nur Ikhwan, who is an engineer fighting with the Palestinian people to build a hospital in Gaza.
Not only that, at the moment he is also building a hospital in Myanmar for victims of Muslim discrimination in the country. Vice Rector for General and Financial Affairs of Unila Prof. Muhammad Kamal explained that currently Unila provides educational scholarships for students from Palestine to study at the campus.
“Currently they are studying at the faculty of engineering and faculty of medicine. In the future we hope that Palestine and Unila can work together to provide as many benefits as possible for the Palestinian state, “Kamal said.
