(Unila): The University of Lampung (Unila) had an iftar dinner with the Unila family, Ramadan 1440 Hijri. The activity took place in Lobby Room on the 1st floor of Rectorate Building, Monday (05/20/2019). The theme of the annual agenda was “Strengthen the Togetherness and Increase Performance for Better Services”.
It was not only attended by rector, vice rectors, and their staff, lecturers and education staff, but also by a number of retired academic staff and members of the executive board of Unila Darma Wanita Persatuan.
The speech of the Unila Rector Prof. Hasriadi Mat Akin opened the event that afternoon, followed by a delivery of tausiah by Dr. Mahmudin Bunyamin, Lc., evening prayers in congregation, and finally the main agenda, iftar dinner.
Hasriadi said in essence fasting trains a Muslim to be more cautious. He believes that spiritual and professional piety cannot be separated. “On this occasion I invite all academics to improve performance by incorporating religious values in every aspect of life”, he said.
He also added that as Allah said in the Al Baqarah verse 183, fasting was essentially a step towards complete, professional and social piety.
The delivery of the soothing tausiah by Dr. Mahmudin also gave new enthusiasm for the invitees to compete with each other during the month of Ramadan by increasing worships and prayers.
“In addition to training to distance ourselves from things that cancel our fasting, it imitates the story of the prophets and apostles. The essence of fasting also educates people to become a pious person.”
Through the event, the University of Lampung will continue to strive to establish close relations with the Unila extended family. [PR Team]
