(Unila): Darma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the University of Lampung (Unila) held a social service (baksos) in the form of basic food distribution on Wednesday (5/22/2019). The social service, a routine program of Unila DWP, was held for the poor in three locations in Bandar Lampung.

Sinar Laut, East Telukbetung, Kotakarang Raya District, the final garbage processing site in Bakung, West Telukbetung, Bandarlampung, and Gudang Lelang, were the targets of Unila’s DWP food distribution on that day.

38 packages of staple foods were distributed in Sinar Laut, 50 in Bakung, and 12 in Gudang Lelang. In addition to the distribution of basic necessities, the members of the DWP board of Unila also distributed appropriate clothing and financial assistance for the construction of Musala Nurul Bahri ceilings, Kotakarang Raya, East Telukbetung District.

Setiawan Batin, the representative of the UPT for the final garbage processing site, said that garbage in the fasting month increased than usual by 20 percent to 1,000 tons. He hopes that the Unila DWP can educate the public to slowly realize the existence of garbage. “Starting from separating organic and inorganic garbage to paying attention to garbage disposal hours,” he added.

Before leaving for the three distribution locations, the Unila DWP administrators gathered at Wisma of Unila. The Rector Prof. Hasriadi Mat Akin who was present at the time also took part in releasing the participants’ departure.

Hasriadi said that he was grateful and proud because the DWP Unila could share with the disadvantaged community. Especially in Ramadan, Muslims are expected to increase social piety.

“We must foster a sense of care for others as well as spiritual piety through worships done day and night. We must also maintain hablumminannas and hablumminallah. This social service is part of hablumminannas,” he said.

He also hopes this activity would have a good impact on the community and get blessing from Allah SWT. [PR Team]
