(Unila): The University of Lampung (Unila) Language Center held Indonesian Language training for non-native Indonesia speakers (BIPA) for overseas students at Unila in the even semester. This training was carried out offline on the second floor of the Unila Language UPT Building.

The training aims to improve the overseas students’ capability of communicating in Indonesian in both spoken and written forms as their proficiency in Indonesian is deemed problematic to attend the lectures at Unila. BIPA is also a forum for introducing cultures and tourism destinations in Lampung to overseas students pursuing their study at Unila.

This course has been scheduled from January 23 – February 15, 2024. The BIPA training course takes 15 meetings in total approximately three weeks.

The training is carried out face-to-face (offline) by prioritizing direct interaction between instructors and participants. Overseas students who take part in the training are guided by professional ttutors with extensive experience in their fields.

Sondos Ali Galal Elfouly, one of the students from Egypt also conveyed several impressions while participating in the BIPA program activities at UPT Bahasa Unila. Currently, Sondos is doing his postgraduate education (S-2) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Unila majoring in Social Education.

“Before leaving for Indonesia, I had studied Indonesian through the BIPA program in Egypt. “By chance, I have a younger sibling who has stayed in Indonesia for years, so I started to get to know Unila and tried to take part in the scholarship program here,” said Sondos.

The training is expected to provide overseas students with a good opportunity to broaden their knowledge about Indonesia, including learning process at Unila and understanding numerous cultures In Lampung. [PR Team]
