(Unila): Universitas Lampung (Unila) has won two national awards at the APPeL Green Indonesia Awards 2026, held at Harris Hotel & Convention Solo, Surakarta, on Friday, August 7, 2026.

The two awards received include the Green Campus Award and the Green Library Award for the Academic Service Unit (UPA) of Unila’s Library. The certificates and trophies were presented directly to the Rector of Unila, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, D.E.A., IPM., ASEAN Eng., during the 3rd Indonesia Green Literacy Conference (KLHI).

The Chairperson of KLHI III 2026, Ali Mutakim, explained that Unila’s selection as the award recipient was based on a comprehensive and objective digital profiling process.

“The assessment was not solely based on field applications; we conducted an in-depth profiling of the official website, media coverage, and the scientific publication track record of the university on Google Scholar. Unila has consistently demonstrated above-average performance in implementing and disseminating green literacy and sustainable campus ecosystems,” said Ali Mutakim before hundreds of delegates from universities across the archipelago and abroad.

Meanwhile, the Rector of Musamus University, Dr. Ir. Daud Andang Pasalli, S.T., M.Eng., emphasized the importance of the role of universities in responding to global challenges.

“In this quantum era, where global dynamics are interconnected, the development of green literacy on campus is key. Collaboration among academics from Sumatra to Papua is essential to support national strategic programs, particularly concerning renewable energy resilience, food security, and improving human resource quality towards Indonesia Gold 2045,” stated Daud Andang.

In response to the achievement of these two awards, Rector Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani viewed this recognition as an acknowledgment of the measured efforts of all campus elements in fostering an environmentally friendly culture.

“The Green Campus and Green Library Awards are not merely trophies, but a recognition of Unila’s steps to integrate environmental values into the tridharma of higher education, starting from the curriculum, scientific research, facility management, to library services based on a green ecosystem,” Prof. Lusmeilia expressed.

Regarding today’s conference, Prof. Lusmeilia emphasized that KLHI serves as a crucial space to align ideas with field practices.

“The Indonesia Green Literacy Conference today opens a very important collaboration space for universities. At Unila, the concept of green literacy does not stop at mere discussion forums but is translated into real actions, starting from tree planting programs for new students, campus energy efficiency initiatives, to the digitalization of library services to reduce paper usage,” asserted the Rector.

The 3rd KLHI and APPeL Green Indonesia Awards 2026 were attended by leaders of state and private universities throughout Indonesia, the Eastern Indonesia State University Consortium, representatives from ministries, and international delegates from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). [Gandhi Irawan]
