(Unila): The atmosphere of the first day of Ramadan at the University of Lampung (Unila) felt lively with the holding of the culinary festival “Jelajah Rasa”, on Thursday, February 19, 2026. The activity took place in the Unila Shuttle Bus area started at 14.30 WIB and will be held throughout the month of Ramadan.
Since the afternoon, the festival area has been bustling with visitors. Eighty food stalls lined the streets offering a variety of iftar options, from sweet dishes to fried snacks. The crowds created a warm and festive atmosphere as the fast approached.
The “Jelajah Rasa” culinary festival is a program of the Unila Business Management Agency (BPU) in collaboration with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) and Danantara. This event serves as a promotional platform for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and offers alternative culinary options to the public.
In addition to MSMEs, Unila students were also given the opportunity to open culinary stalls. Students can participate by submitting a permit from their respective faculties, thus making the festival a space for student entrepreneurship.
The enthusiasm of attendees was evident on the first day of the event. Mika, an International Relations student from the class of 2025, said she was drawn to the event because she wanted to experience a different kind of iftar atmosphere at the start of Ramadan.
“It’s the first day of fasting, so I wanted to break my fast with something new. It just so happened that there was a bazaar at the Unila Shuttle,” She said.
She believes that this festival also makes things easier for students because there are many food choices available for breaking the fast.
The vendors also felt the rush of visitors from the opening. Samsudin, one of the MSMEs participating in the festival, said the crowds had been thronging since the opening.
“Today’s visitors are crowded, just opened for the first time and many people have already bought. We, as an MSME, feel very helped and happy with this program managed by Unila,” he said.
She hopes that Unila can continue to facilitate similar activities so that MSMEs have space to sell and develop on campus.
Through the “Jelajah Rasa” culinary festival, Unila continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing an inclusive and productive space for academics, the community, and MSMEs.
This activity not only brings a Ramadan atmosphere to campus, but also serves as a means of economic empowerment and strengthening community, in line with Unila’s role as a university that actively contributes to its surrounding community. [Muzamil Kakar]
