(Unila): The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of the University of Lampung (Unila) successfully enlivened a series of carnivals and multicultural art performances in commemoration of the 58th anniversary of FKIP Unila on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
This lively event was one of the highlights of the celebration, involving the academic community and partner schools. With the theme “Pesona Sai Bumi Ruwai Jurai” (The Enchantment of Sai Bumi Ruwai Jurai), the carnival showcased the rich arts and culture of Lampung in a multicultural setting.
The series of events began with the arrival of the Unila Rector, followed by the “Lembayung Sekala” welcome dance performed by students from YP Unila High School. The atmosphere on stage became even more lively with the performance of the Tiyuh Pattani dance by the Sagala Ratu Studio from SD Negeri 3 Labuhan Ratu.
This dance was inspired by the life of the people of West Lampung, one of the coffee-producing regions, depicting the joy of children helping their parents harvest coffee with ladders and kinjar.
The next performance was the Babekh Dance performed by SMA Negeri 1 Kedondong. This dance visualizes the activities of lifting, transporting, and building nuwo as part of the dynamics of Pesawaran community life, rich in the meaning of mutual cooperation and collective work.
The series of activities continued with a fashion show that showcased the beauty of Lampung’s traditional clothing. The show began with the splendor of Pesisir (Saibatin) traditional clothing and continued with Pepadun traditional clothing, which reflects the identity and cultural stratification of Lampung.
Not only did it showcase local culture, the art stage also highlighted the spirit of diversity through cross-disciplinary performing arts collaborations. Each performance was designed as a medium for cultural education as well as a space for creative expression for students.
To conclude, the Dance Art Study Program and Music Art Study Program of Unila presented a collaborative work entitled “Echo Nusantara.” This performance depicted a journey of movement and sound that traced the cultural landscape of Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke in one harmonious stage.
Through this multicultural arts carnival and exchange, FKIP Unila not only celebrates its 58th anniversary but also reaffirms its commitment to preserving culture, strengthening educational collaboration, and fostering pride in the diversity of Nusantara arts. [Gandhi Irawan]
