(Unila): The Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lampung (Unila), successfully presented a poetry musicalization project as a part of the poetry musicalization course in Seventh semester.
This project is a form of actualization of literary learning that not only stops at the theoretical realm but also emphasizes creative practice through the process of transferring literary media.
This poetry musicalization program was carried out by the Uleu Muder Muspus Team, which consisted of four students, namely Muhammad Afif Al Fahmi Asri, Riska Sukma Triyani, Martin Hamonangan Napitupulu, and Bilsabila Rizky Amalia.
This activity was under the guidance of the supervising lecturers, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fuad, M.Hum., and Aditya Pratama, M.Pd., who intensively directed the creative process from the conceptual stage to the stage of presenting the work.
Unlike the general practice of musicalizing poetry, this project does not only emphasize the process of transforming poetry into musical form.
The Uleu Muder Muspus team went further by creating a music video (MV) for the musicalized poem. Thus, this project involved two stages: musicalization of the poem and cinematization of the poem.
During the screening of the poetry musicalization music video held on December 23, 2025, Prof. Muhammad Fuad said that the work presented had gone beyond the limits of conventional poetry musicalization.
According to him, this project has entered the realm of advanced levels, namely the cinematization of poetry, because poetry is not only presented through sound and music, but also through cinematic and narrative visual language.
The screening of this poetry musicalization project was collaborated with the RASA (Two Language Literature Screen) Semester I Final Project activity, especially on the second day of the activity.
This collaboration became an interdisciplinary meeting space for literary transformation, including film, music, and cinematic visuals, all of which departed from literary texts as the primary source.
Through this project, students are not only required to understand poetry as text, but also to be able to interpret and execute it into cross media works.
The poetry musicalization project is proof that literary learning can develop creatively, adaptively, and relevantly to the development of performing arts and audiovisual media.
By holding this poetry musicalization project, it is hoped that students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program will be able to grow as literary creators who are not only academically skilled, but also possess artistic sensitivity and the courage to experiment in the process of media transformation.
This activity also affirms that literature has ample room to continue to live, develop, and dialogue with other artistic media. [Muzamil Kakar]
