(Unila): A total of 2.405 participants took part in the workshop on “Competency Development for Young Experts in Construction Services” at the University of Lampung GSG on Friday (04/12/2019).
The participants were students from nine public and private universities in Lampung Province. The event held by the Palembang Regional Construction Service Center was opened by the Vice Rector for General and Financial Affairs the University of Lampung Prof. Muhammad Kamal.
The workshop which was held to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Faculty of Engineering will take place for two days from 12 – 13 April 2019.
The public lecture was also attended by the Director General of Construction Development of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Syarif Burhanuddin, Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Dr. Karomani, M.Sc., and Deans of Unila, as well as the invitees.
Muhammad Kamal said that the role of infrastructure in human life is the right of every citizen guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution. Infrastructure must be safe and comfortable to use.
Making such infrastructure must certainly have a reasonable level of competence. One of them is an expert in the field of water resources. In addition, infrastructure in the transportation sector must be optimally provided, both roads and vehicles.
Syarif Burhanuddin also added that the community must strengthen every existing potential in the country to improve competitiveness. The benefits from what is being built at this time may only be derived the next ten years.
Therefore, Higher Education and High School equivalent can link and match for the competency tests. The experts produced will be given a certificate so that they can work immediately. “At present the world of work requires not only diplomas but also specialties.
