(Unila): The University of Lampung was appointed as one of the participants in the Transnational Online Public Lecture on Thursday (4/4/2019). The event was the result of cooperation between the International Indonesian Scientists Association (I-4) and the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education.

The theme of the public lecture taking place in the main meeting room on the 2nd floor of Rectorate Building was “Development of Chemistry and Pharmacy Studies and Research in Domestic Institutions”.

The event initiated by several universities was the first time in the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education’s records. Reinforced through online channels, Directorate General of Higher Education Science and Technology Resources Prof. Ali Ghufron Mukti revealed, Kemenristekdikti was very proud of the availability of global experts in the fields of pharmacy and chemistry who actively contributed to online lectures.

Prof. Ali hoped that through this activity participants could get references to analyze pharmaceutical and chemical problems in their homeland in particular. “As we know, the acquisition of raw materials for the manufacture of drugs is still dominant from the outside,” he explained.

Chairperson of I-4 Prof. Deden Rukmana when opening the event explained, this was one step in the development of science now and in the future. The online learning program was being upgraded. “The opening ceremony is an effort to minimize the distance and time constraints so that we can continue to provide benefits and contributions,” he said.

Rector of Unila Prof. Hasriadi Mat Akin said, the event was one of the breakthroughs to improve the quality of lectures. “Unila really needs this lecture. The campus is currently running. “Unila has just opened a Pharmacy Undergraduate program and at FMIPA there are also S1, S2, and S3 programs in Chemistry,” explained Hasriadi.

The keynote speakers in the event were Prof. Teruna Siahaan (Kansas University, USA) guided by Chair (I-4) Prof. Deden Rukmana from Australia.

The participants who were directly involved were students of the Chemistry Department and Pharmacy Programs at the University of Bengkulu, Jambi University, and the University of Lampung. The event could be accessed by streaming through the Youtube link http://youtu.be/otgmayoEYTU. [PR Team]
