(Unila): The Information and Documentation Management Officers (PPID) of the University of Lampung (Unila) held a Socialization on Public Information Openness (KIP) for employees, Friday (03/05/2019).
The event, aimed at increasing transparency of public information, was held in collaboration with the Provincial Information Commission (KIP) of Lampung and the Representatives of Lampung Ombudsman.
The socialization that took place in the main meeting room on the second floor of Rectorate Building was opened by the Vice Rector for PKTIK Unila Prof. Mahatma Kufepaksi. The committee invited two speakers, Chairman of KIP Lampung Dery Hendryan, S.I.P., S.H., M.H., and Head of Maladministration Prevention Assistance of Lampung Ombudsman, Atika Mutiara Oktakevina.
Dery said, higher education is one of the public bodies that has the mandate to implement information disclosure as mandated by Law Number 14 of 2008.
In addition to having the benefits of transparency and accountability of the public body itself, the UU KIP aims to improve governance and optimize the protection of people’s rights for public services.
Dery explained, KIP had consequences that from the implementation of this Law PPID should be formed in each public agency.
In carrying out its duties and responsibilities, PPID is authorized to decide whether public information can be accessed by the public or not. PPID is also authorized to update the list of information regularly, both open and excluded information.
Furthermore, Atika from Ombudsman explained that the governance of complaints on public services that are not in accordance with the Service Standards is regulated in Law Number 25 of 2009 concerning Public Services.
Atika explained, the urgency of complaints in public services as a form of performance evaluation of service providers.
Ombudsman as a state institution responsible for carrying out supervision of public services also implements the People’s Online Aspiration and Complaint Service (LAPOR) which is integrated nationally with the Ministry of PanRB and the Presidential Staff Office.
Responding to this, Mahatma Kufepaksi explained that today people are demanded to be more selective in obtaining information. Valid information and reliable sources are a wise step that must be applied by each person
Unila as one of the public bodies has a role to deliver transparent and accountable information. Mahatma hopes that the activities can be a source of information to achieve public information service procedures. [PR Team]
