Prof. Dr. Maroni, S.H., M. Hum., the Dean of the Faculty of Law, in his speech said that the challenges of the legal profession, especially advocates in the era of globalization are very serious. Competition is getting tougher even though the advocate profession is still much needed.
He hoped that Unila Faculty of Law students could develop their knowledge and potential by really listening to the materials presented on the seminar.
The event, which was organized by the Department of Civil Law, invited famous keynote speakers Dr. Elza Syarief, S.H., M.H., and Dr. (can) Sopian Sitepu, S.H., M.H., M.Kn.
Discussing the opportunities of the legal profession, especially advocates, Elza shared her experience on how she managed to run her career as an advocate.
Elza is now planning to make an advocate to take up a position in the constitutional court and the finance ministry. She also admitted that she is fighting for an advocate to be able to go to a tax institution.
“I will fight for it through my organization,” explained Elza who is also Chair of the Indonesian Advocates and Lawyers Association (HAPI).
On the other hand, Sopian Sitepu explained the challenge of being an advocate. According to him, success of being an advocate requires a long struggle and a great effort.
“We must maintain ethics and loyalty and work seriously. An advocate is said to be successful if he/she can make his/her client feel comfortable through his/her performance, “he said.
In addition to holding a seminar, Unila Faculty of Law will support the improvement of student competency by providing practical skills and issuing diploma companion certificates for students to be able to compete in the world of work according to market needs. [PR Team]
