(Unila): Mahkamah Student Activity Unit (UKM-F) of the Faculty of Law (FH) of the University of Lampung (Unila) held a National Seminar entitled “Concurrent Elections: Potential Explosion of Disputes and Post-Election Conflicts”.
The event took place at Prof. Abdulkadir Muhammad, S.H. Auditorium, Faculty of Law Unila, Saturday (04/13/2019). The event was attended by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. Anwar Usman, S.H., M.H., as one of the speakers.
According to the seminar chair, Ebi Heriyanto, the theme of the election was based on the potential lawsuit resulting from an election dispute that would emerge a lot. In addition, this was to analyze a map of conflicts that will be caused after the period of democracy.
“We hope to get new knowledge given by the Chair of Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Ebi who is also the Chairperson of Mahkamah FH-F Unila.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Unila, Prof. Dr. H. Bujang Rahman, M.Sc., also attended the event, who then gave his opening remarks while officially opening a national seminar.
In his speech Bujang expressed his pride and appreciation to Mahkamah UKM-F FH for organizing the event and inviting a number of experts.
“I think this topic is very strategic considering that Indonesia is a pluralistic society and Lampung is part of a pluralistic society. This diverse society will give birth to a variety of perceptions in response to the various dynamics of national and state life including the issue of elections, “he added.
Bujang also explained, the topic of the seminar was a joint commitment to maintain peace and harmony after the simultaneous election which would soon be held. This event was a manifestation of anticipatory efforts to avoid unwanted conflicts after carrying out a democratic party.
In addition to the Chair of Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia, the event attended by students and the public was also attended by other speakers, namely senior researchers from LIPI
