(Unila): The admission selection of new student in higher education in 2019 is currently using the Computer-Based Writing Exam UTBK). University of Lampung (Unila) as the Local Committee (Panlok) 191 through the Implementing Agency for New Student Admissions (BP-PMB) carried out UTBK SBMPTN Workshop 2019 for server admins and room technicians from local committee partners.

There were, six local committee partners such as SMKN 2, SMK 2 Mei, SMA Al Kautsar, SMKN 4 Bandarlampung, Indonesian Technocrat University, and University of Malahayati attended the workshop at Horizon Hotel, Bandarlampung, Thursday (02/28/2019).

Chairman of BP-PMB,Moneyzar Usman, said, basically the new student admission exam had the same format as the former registration. But this time prospective students will follow a different registration path, the UTBK system.

“First, participants register online. Thereafter, they will get information about the time and session of the test. Participants, then,sit an exam. Afterwards, they will get a score, which can be used to register in their chosen department,” he explained.

Moneyzar also revealed the vital role of both server administrators and room technicians in this activity to find out whatkind of the mechanism of installation, equipment, space and place that will be applied as it is related to partners’ facilities.

In addition, the Coordinator ofLocal Committee of 191,Heri Dian Septana, explained, registration will be opened on March 1, meanwhile there are a national trial which will be carried out by March 9, 2019.

Through a change in the partial exam system from UTBC and UTBK to a comprehensive UTBK, the number of test takers will be divided into 20 sessions every Saturday-Sunday. Furthermore, the interfaceof UTBK application 2019 is presented in the form of subtests by a time limit in each subtest.

“The implementation of the exam by this method hadrun for 3 years although it was applied partially. However, there are still potential failures. Thus, this activity is one ofour anticipation efforts to overcome such prior experience regarding equipment, computers, and electricity,” explained Heri.

Heri added, the chosen partners are educational institutions that have adequate optional electric power besides PLN, such as generator sets and UPS. Whereas during the national trial on March 9, there will be an evaluation which will be submitted to schools as well as partners’universities.[PR Team]
