(Unila): Some exchange students coming from University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia, were welcomed by Rector of University of Lampung (Unila), Prof. Hasriadi Mat Akin; Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Bujang Rahman; and Dean of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Unila, Prof. Warsito at the FMIPA Hall fl. 2 nd on Tuesday (22/01/2019).

A warm greeting by Prof. Hasriadi led off the welcoming ceremony. On this occasion, as a Professor of Faculty of Agriculture, he explained that there are various potentials in Lampung Province can be explored such as agriculture, tourism, culture, industry, as well as education.

He also explained the development of Unila until the beginning of 2019. “There was also the student exchange program at FEB Unila last year, while this currently year takes place at FMIPA,” he said.

On the other side, Head of Physics Department of the University of Malaya, Prof. Hasan Abu Kassim, said that various collaborations would be carried out in both research and learning projects.

He also expected that the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Unila and UM will expand various collaboration not only focus on student exchange program but also on other form of cooperation. This program is the collaboration result between Unila especially FMIPA and Science Faculty of University of Malaya.

Prof. Warsito added, through this program, FMIPA has more committed to start international cooperation. The collaboration will also carry out in a form of joint research among universities.

Met separately, Chairperson of Program Organizer, Dr. Junaidi, S.Si., M.Sc., explained, this student exchange program was initiated from the visit of FMIPA Unila Team to the University of Malaya, Malaysia, for an assessment of cooperation few months ago. Henceforth, it has continued to generate several agreements including student exchange program, staff exchange, and research collaboration.

This currently student exchange program will take place for 10 days, January 22 nd – February 1 st , 2019. Junaidi said, the program will be about 12 general lectures; industry visit; laboratory visit at FMIPA Unila; learning visits to elephants’ training centers in Waykambas; Lampungnese cultural studies such as making Tapis cloth and learning to Lampungnese Alphabet.

“University of Malaya, currently, delegates 4 students to Unila: 1 student of the Physics Department, 1 student of Mathematics Department, and 2 students of Biology Department. Furthermore, on the next July, FMIPA Unila will delegate 10 selected candidates to the University of Malaya for the same program,” Junaidi enclosed.[Humas]
