(Unila): Unila students in collaboration with Sucofindo, Pertamina Hulu Energi, and Wisesa Niaga Tama, won first place in the 2023 Sucofindo Science Hackathon Festival for the category of Vegetation Detection Competition Using Computer Vision.

The team, comprising Unila alumni from the 2013, 2014 and 2015 classes, demonstrated their excellence in combining academic knowledge with the latest technology.

SucofindoScience Hackathon Festivalis constitutes an open innovation competition organized by PT Sucofindo, with the primary aim of developing innovative solutions based on technology 4.0 in overcoming strategic problems in industry.

The festival focused on artificial intelligence approaches in research and business innovation. The competition is part of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN)’s efforts to create superior talent, both in companies and in universities, by prioritizing academic, business and government principles in collaboration.

The 2023 Sucofindo Science Hackathon Festival activities will take place from July 6 2023 until the peak event on September 27 2023. This peak event was held at Graha Sucofindo Pusat, South Jakarta.

During the competition, the participants were challenged with the task of developing a prototype using an artificial intelligence (AI) approach to overcome various business problems, with a focus on efficiency and optimization.

Participants come from various categories, from companies, academics, to students, competing fiercely in a competitive environment. There are 60 participating teams from all over Indonesia who registered in this national competition.

The prototype results developed by the winning team should be converted into a business by PT Sucofindo, providing a positive impact in facing industrial challenges in Indonesia.

The 2023 Sucofindo Science Hackathon Festival indicates that collaboration between the academic world, business and government needs to be made to create innovative solutions to improve the country’s economy.
