(Unila): Unila students attending the field work program converted used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles in Cimanuk Village, Waylima District, Pesawaran Regency. This was done to prevent the environment from being polluted which in turn will affect our health.

The communities were encouraged to recycle the used cooking oil converting it into aromatherapy candles and they were also introduced with the concept of circular economy to promote better income as the product has benefits and selling points.

Tiara Mukti Latifah, in charge of this activity, said that this program aims to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of the community by developing waste into products to lead to business opportunities.

The community is now aware of the benefit of processing used cooking oil instead of being thrown away. The materials required to produce aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil include palm wax, essential oils, and special wax dyes or crayons.

The tools used are also quite simple, namely kitchen utensils such as pots, spoons, candle molds, candle wicks or mattress threads, and Wick supports.

This activity received a positive response from the people of Cimanuk Village. Mothers who attended the training looked enthusiastic and happy to learn how to make aromatherapy candles.

The community members are in attempt to apply the new knowledge gained from the Unila students to participate in competitions that will be put in place in local villages. [PR Team]
