(Unila): A team of students from the University of Lampung (Unila) achieved success by winning first place at the Travical (Tirtayasa Research Competition and Festival) 2025 event organized by the Research and Academic Society of Tirtayasa University.
The team consists of three students from the 2023 State Administration Study Program, namely Muhammad Rifki Macan as team leader, and Septiyan Dwi Amanda and Jahra Mutia Nurfitri as members.
The Unila team presented a poster titled “Ecotrack 5.0: IoT-Community System Innovation for Data-Based River Monitoring and Digital Education Towards a Smart Environment 2045.” This poster contained ideas about the Ecotrack 5.0 application as a solution to river pollution in Indonesia.
It explains how IoT technology is combined with the role of local communities to monitor river water quality in real-time, while also providing digital education to the public to create a smart and sustainable environment.
The topic was chosen because river pollution in Indonesia remains a serious issue that impacts public health, ecosystems, and environmental sustainability. Through Ecotrack 5.0, the Unila team aims to provide innovative technology-based solutions that not only monitor river quality but also educate the public to be more environmentally conscious.
The competition ran from June 30 to August 30, 2025, and the winners were announced on August 31, 2025. As a result, the Unila team won first place, bringing home prize money, certificates, and trophies as a form of appreciation for their work.
“We are very grateful and proud because this award is proof of our team’s hard work, collaboration, and enthusiasm for learning. In addition, this award also motivates us to continue innovating and never stop developing creative ideas that are beneficial to society. This experience has taught us a valuable lesson that teamwork and the courage to try new things are the keys to achieving success,” said a team representative.
The Unila team hopes that the idea they presented through Ecotrack 5.0 will not remain just a concept in the competition, but will actually be realized and benefit the wider community.
They also hope to continue participating in various research events and similar competitions to hone their skills, broaden their horizons, and contribute more to the nation’s progress through tangible work. [Gandhi Irawan]
