(Unila): After successfully producing competent graduates in the first batch, the Plant Protection Alumni Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung ( Unila ) is reopening the Pesticide Academy Batch 2.

This strategic career acceleration program was implemented intensively on December 23 to 25, 2025, as an effort to address the challenge of the human resource gap in the agricultural industry, especially the pesticide sector.

This program is more than just ordinary training. Alumni of the Pesticide Academy Batch 1 (October–November 2024) have proven the program’s effectiveness by successfully pursuing professional careers at various partner companies across Sumatra and Java. This success demonstrates that the curriculum is capable of bridging new graduates into adaptable, competent, and industry-ready workforces.

In Batch 2, participants will be equipped not only with the technical skills needed in the pesticide industry but also with an understanding of professional ethics and insights into the world of work.

The learning process was conducted intensively with mentoring from experienced professionals in their fields, including Mardianto from Bimagro Indonesia, who is also a consultant for Sumitomo Japan, and Bambang Juritno Putro from Bimagro Indonesia. The presence of these practitioners provided added value in the form of practical understanding and direct insights from the industry.

After training, participants will undergo a six-month internship with direct placement at a partner company. During the internship, participants receive incentives from the company and have a strong opportunity to be hired as permanent employees upon completion of the program.

The participants also felt the positive impact of this activity. Devi, a participant in Pesticide Academy Batch 2, said, “This program has really helped me, especially now that it’s so difficult to find work.”

“The Pesticide Academy serves as a bridge connecting industries in need of experts with alumni seeking opportunities. The success of Batch 1 alumni in Sumatra and Java motivated the Plant Protection Alumni Foundation to continue expanding this positive impact through Batch 2,” said Mardianto, the foundation’s advisor and speaker at the event.
