(Unila): University of Lampung held a professor inauguration ceremony at the Multi-purpose Building (GSG), Wednesday (02/13/2019). The inauguration was addressed to Dr. Maroni, S.H., M. Hum., as Professor of Criminal Law.

This Professor of the Faculty of Law of Unila delivered his scientific speech entitled “First Public Service-Based Justice in a terms of The Enforcement of Human Rights for Justice Seeker”.

Dr. Maroni, since August 1 st , 2018, has been promoted to become a professor of criminal law with a credit point of 872.50. This is based on the Decree of the Minister of Research and Technology Number 39622/A2.3/KP/2018 regarding the Promotion in Academic/ Functional Position of Lecturers.

In his remarks, Prof. Maroni said, the urgency of upholding human rights in the criminal justice process due to the status of a suspect or defendant does not cause the loss of human rights (HAM), as long as the status concerned is still a citizen of the Republic of Indonesia, thus, the rights are protected by the 1945 Constitution.

The issue regarding criminal law enforcement, however, is not a simple matter. It is not only because of the complexity of the legal system, but also because of the complexity of the relations between the legal systems with the social, political, economic, and cultural realm. In addition, law enforcement in a society has its own tendencies due to the structure of its society.

The event which took place at the GSG was attended by representatives of Lampung Provincial Prosecutor, Head of Lampung Provincial Court, Head of Communication and Information Office as representing the Governor of Lampung Province, as well as other distinguished guests.[Humas]
