(Unila): The University of Lampung (Unila) held a focus group discussion (FGD) on the strategic plan (renstra), vision-mission, and curriculum development of the Engineering Professional Program (PSPPI), on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in the second floor meeting room, Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) on the local campus.
The FGD was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Unila, Prof. Dr. Eng. Suripto Dwi Yuwono, S.Si., MT.
In his remarks, he said that since receiving the mandate in 2016 and strengthened with an operational permit in 2018, PSPPI Unila has transformed into one of the important pillars of the faculty of engineering in supporting the development of engineering human resources.
He emphasized that the achievement of 1,150 students and alumni by the 15th class is not merely a statistic. The distribution of Unila PSPPI graduates who have served as rectors, deans, regional heads, and even state-owned enterprise directors is clear evidence of this program’s significant contribution to national development, particularly in the Southern Sumatra region.
According to him, the rapid changes in the industrial world require engineering professional programs to remain adaptive. Therefore, the review of the strategic plan, vision, and mission through this FGD is not considered an administrative formality, but rather a strategic step in responding to increasingly complex and dynamic industrial challenges.
The FGD was attended by the Chairperson of the Professional Engineer Program Communication Forum (Forkom PPPI), Dr. Ir. Taufik Nur, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., Chairperson of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) Lampung Region, Dr. Ir. Mulyadi Irsan, M.T., IPU., faculty leaders, Head of the PSPPI Study Program, Head of the Strategic Plan Team, resource persons, stakeholders, and alumni.
In the discussion, a number of strategic issues became the main focus, including the development of a 24 credits curriculum that needs to be strengthened for both the Prior Learning Recognition (RPL) and Regular pathways.
In addition, compliance with regulations, particularly Permendikbudristek No. of 2022, is also an important aspect in the implementation of the Professional Engineering Study Program.
Improving the quality of learning is also a focus, along with the support of 16 certified Professional Engineer lecturers who already have an Engineer Registration Certificate (STRI).
With this support, it is hoped that the seven core PSPPI courses can be delivered with the highest quality standards and relevant to industry needs.
Through the synergy between academics and practitioners involved in this FGD, Unila hopes to formulate a PSPPI curriculum that is not only technically applicable but also visionary in producing professional engineers who are ethical, competitive, and able to meet the challenges of national development.
