(Unila): The University of Lampung (Unila) and the Government of Central Lampung Regency have begun working together on Study Programs Off Campus (PSDKU). The signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the two parties took place on Monday, May 30, 2022, at Nuwo Balak, Central Lampung.

The PKS was signed by Prof. Ir. Suharso, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation, and ICT, with Assistant for Government and Welfare Adi Sriyono, and witnessed by Musa Ahmad, Regent of Central Lampung.

KKN Chairman Muhammad Basri, PKLI UPT Head Ayi Ahadiat, Suratno Information and Public Relations Coordinator, and PKLI Cooperation Division Head Indra Jaya Wiranata were among the Unila team members attendeding the signing of PKS.

Unila’s PSDKU cooperation is the embodiment of Unila’s innovation in broadening access to education by bringing campuses closer to outlying locations. Prof. Suharso stated that the issue of funding has become the major problem in running Study Programs beyond the Main Campus.

Large funds  are inevitably required in the future to have faculties run optimally. With reference to the analysis, the operating cost of running a faculty is expected to exceed UKT income generated from students.

Furthermore, the central government’s policy of uniformly prescribing UKT has become a significant burden in the operations of exact faculties such as FMIPA, agriculture, medical, and engineering, because the percentage of practise in the laboratory is higher than that of lectures in classrooms.

“With this enormous demand, Unila is attempting to devise a strategy to have the PSDKU plan on the Central Lampung campus realised and executed,” he explained. Opening study programmes with high interest and cheap in cost is one of ways out of these circumstances.

Suharto noted that PSDKU’s operations necessarily mobilise lecturers, educational facilities, and administration, which are expected to be difficult to implement.

Apart from that, he stated, Unila is ready to work with KKN students to build Central Lampung by achieving the Tourism Village and Digital Village Program in Central Lampung.

Central Lampung Regent Musa Ahmad responded by expressing his gratitude for Unila’s efforts and cooperation to have PSDKU in Central Lampung implemented soon.

“On several occasions, I have communicated to the public that the Central Lampung administration, in conjunction with the University of Lampung, will strive to give the best for the advancement of the people of Central Lampung,” he added.

According to Musa Ahmad, the Central Lampung Regency Government promotes the best provisions for the younger generation through this PSDKU collaboration by broadening knowledge at the Unila campus in Central Lampung.

“This truly benefits the community since they don’t have to travel too far to study in Bandar Lampung City,” he explained.

Musa Ahmad further stated that, in addition to the process of creating the Unila Campus in Central Lampung, there are other opportunities we can capitalise on collaboratively.

Technically, what Unila accomplishes will be put in place by the division in charge of this topic so that the two parties’ cooperation will soon be fully achieved. [PR Team]
