(Unila): The University of Lampung (Unila) and Tidar University (Untidar) officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the Implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in the main meeting room of the local campus.
The signing of the MoU was attended by Rectors from both universities as a form of shared commitment to strengthening collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community service.
The MoU was signed by Unila Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, D.E.A., IPM., ASEAN Eng., and Tidar University Rector Prof. Dr. Sugiyarto, M.Si. This collaboration will be valid for five years and can be extended according to the agreement of the parties.
In her remarks, Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani stated that this MoU serves as a strategic foundation for strengthening synergy between state universities in improving the quality of governance, academics, and real contributions to society.
“This collaboration is not just a document signing, but a commitment to delivering concrete programs that have a direct impact on lecturers, students, and the community. Unila is open to sharing good practices and learning from Untidar in a spirit of collaboration and equality,” She said.
She added that the implementation of the MoU will be followed up through a more specific Cooperation Agreement (PKS) and Implementation Arrangement (IA), including in the areas of data management, human resource strengthening, and student development.
Meanwhile, Prof. Sugiyarto stated that the signing of the MoU holds emotional and historic significance for Untidar. The visit to Unila began with the intention of visiting and paying respects to the late Prof. John Hendri, a Unila figure who played a crucial role as Acting Rector of Untidar during the leadership crisis in 2018.
“We came with the intention of learning to appreciate the contributions of the figures who have contributed to the advancement of our institution. Alhamdulillah, from this intention of friendship and condolences, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala brought us together with an even greater opportunity: the signing of the MoU between Untidar and Unila,” said Prof. Sugiyarto.
He also said that Untidar, as a relatively young state university that changed its status to PTN in 2014, is still in the growth phase and is very open to learning from Unila, especially in data and information management, PD Dikti governance, as well as developing student achievements and empowerment.
“We recognize that in this era, the progress of higher education and the nation is largely determined by the quality of information management. Through this collaboration, we hope to learn a lot from Unila in data management, information systems, and strengthening student affairs,” he explained.
Through this MoU, both universities are committed to producing various tangible outcomes, including improving the quality of education and learning through the exchange of good practices, collaborative research relevant to regional and national development needs, strengthening the capacity of lecturers and educational staff, and developing student achievements and empowerment through joint student programs.
It is hoped that the impact of this collaboration will not only be felt by the academic communities of Unila and Untidar, but also by the wider community, through more targeted, research-based, and sustainable community service programs.
The event concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the two rectors, marking a new step in strategic collaboration between Unila and Untidar in an effort to contribute to the development of science, improve the quality of human resources, and advance the Indonesian nation.
