(Unila): The University of Lampung (Unila) reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a problem solver for issues in Lampung Province.
This was conveyed when the Rector of Unila, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, DEA, IPM., ASEAN Eng., received an audience with the Chief of Lampung Police, Inspector General Pol. Helfi Assegaf, in the Rector Meeting Room on the second floor of Unila Rectorate Building, Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
The Regional Police Chief was accompanied at the meeting by the Director of Intelligence and Security of the Lampung Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Efrizal, SIK, MM, and the Head of Human Resources, Senior Commissioner Ariefaldi Warganegara, SH, SIK, MM. Meanwhile, the Rector of Unila was accompanied by vice Rectors, deans, and the Head of BPKHM Unila.
This meeting resulted in a number of strategic agreements that have a direct impact on security stability and public welfare, including handling land conflicts, food security, and increasing the educational capacity of Polri members.
One of the main highlights of this discussion was the handling of land disputes involving communities, companies, and the government in the Tulang Bawang and Central Lampung regions.
The Regional Police invited Unila not to play an academic role but also to engage directly into the field through the Community Service program.
Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani emphasized that Unila will deploy a team of experts from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), the Faculty of Law (FH), and the Community Service (KKN) team to carry out an educational and persuasive approach.
“We agreed on concrete synergies. For community service, Unila, along with the Lampung Regional Police, will go to conflict areas, such as land disputes in Tulang Bawang. We will also involve Lampung traditional leaders in discussions on conflict resolution to ensure our approach is more acceptable and reaches the community’s cultural roots,” She said.
The Rector also explained the technical implementation in the field, which will involve the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) and the KKN Team to take a direct approach in providing education to the community.
Beyond security issues, Unila and the Lampung Regional Police also agreed to collaborate on food security. This is in response to the need to convert idle land into productive land.
“This collaboration also targets the agricultural sector. We will utilize land in Kota Baru for corn cultivation. This demonstrates Unila and the Regional Police’s concrete support for the national food security program. The plan is to implement this program in the near future,” explained the Rector.
In the education sector, Unila opens its doors wide for members of the Indonesian National Police who wish to improve their academic qualifications, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
“The Regional Police Chief has an extraordinary vision for the education of his personnel. Unila is ready to facilitate Polri members who do not yet have a bachelor’s degree or wish to pursue a master’s degree, including through the Prior Learning Recognition (RPL) and Extension Lecture programs. This is our contribution to producing superior and broad-minded state officials,” concluded Prof. Lusmeilia.
It is hoped that this collaboration will be realized soon and have a tangible positive impact on the police institution, the Unila academic community, and the Lampung community at large. [Muzamil Kakar]
