(Unila): Two students from the Accounting Program, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Unila, Catur Amung Saputra and Padma Dewi Piranti, won the second place in the Essay Competition during the National English Competition (NEC) held from January 16 to May 4, 2023.
NEC is a prestigious competition which has been held online by HMJ BSI-FBS Medan State University (Unimed) since 2012. This event is intended for Indonesian young people to have capability of expressing their creativity and innovation in English.
The essay composed by two Unila students revolved around the theme “SeTo (Search of Tutor): Digital Platform to Improve Creative Economy and Education Quality Among Indonesian Youth as an Effort to Realize Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
The essay written by Putra and Padma proposed a creative idea in the form of an application of a digital platform that facilitates tutors and students to learn together through this application.
The idea was inspired by the online motorcycle taxi application. Putra admitted that it was not easy to prepare this essay due mainly to time management of the dense lectures. Finally, the essay could be successfully completed due to the good teamwork, sharing ideas and job descriptions for each member.
Unila students are advised to participate in such a prestigious the competition with no hesitation that they may achieve their performance in the competition.
He believes that a failure in competition is a delayed success as it took him a year to finally win the race. Putra and Padma are also grateful for the position achieved and hope that this can always be an encouragement to excel and contribute to their beloved alma mater. [PR Team]
