(Unila): Early in the year 2020, the University of Lampung (Unila) launched the Kaleidoscope book entitled “A Year of Synergy and Innovation for the Nation”. It is intended as one of the bases to compile and execute the program in 2021.
“The kaleidoscope is exposed early in the year. It constitutes our foundation and evaluation for all levels of positions, i.e., in rectorates, faculties, departments, study programs, institutions, and agencies to adhere. It is necessarily made so that our better life in the following year can be achieved” said Prof. Suharso, Ph.D., the Chairperson of the 2020 Unila Kaleidoscope Launching Committee as well as the Vice-Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and ICT of Unila.
The Unila top leaders from the rectorate office and faculty levels attended the launching of the kaleidoscope book. This, according to Suharso is a new trend and the first program we have today. On the one hand, Unila has significantly achieved a lot of progress in a number of sectors, such as, University ranking, on the other hand, we also have a record of weaknesses in a few sectors that requires every single lelement at Unila to sort out the problem.
Meanwhile, in his speech, the Rector of Unila, Prof. Karomani, appreciates the increase in Unila’s clustering ranking, which is deemed fairly high. In 2020, Unila attained in the 29th position, up 17 places compared to the previous year, at the 46th place. “Hopefully, in 2021 August, Unila will have a better ranking. Unila is also struggling to shift the level of legal status, from BLU (Public Service Agency) to PTNBH (state university with legal status) following leading universities IPB, UGM, and U.I. among others.
This is an attempt to facilitate Unila to reach top ten universities in 2025. It would be hard to upgrade the university ranking if Unila remains with a BLU status”, said Karomani. He also explained that Unila achieved tremendous progress in 2020. Unila enhanced the network with the Higher Education Service Institution (L2 Dikti) by assigning one of professors at Unila, a Head of L2Dikti Region II, covering Southern Sumatra, Lampung, Babel, and Bengkulu.
“This enables Unila to have better communication with L2Diktii so that the proposal of the submission of new study programs might be shortly approved. God bless us, Alhamdulillah, the Study Program with respect to Lampung indigenous language has been officially approved after being abandoned for years. The enrollment of the program has been offered throughout this semester, “said Karomani.
In 2020, continued Karomani, Unila also succeeded in securing Unila’s asset, one of which is YP Unila with an asset value of approximately forty billion rupiah. “Unila can portray even YP Unila’s finances will later be integrated into Unila’s budget,” he said. In 2021, Karomani wishes to expand YP Unila, proposing other two schools, YP Unila’s excellent elementary and junior high schools in addition to the existing senior high school.
According to Karomani, the achievements attained by Unila in 2020 are due mainly to collective work among leaders and staff members from different levels of positions at the university. Karomani again invited all Unila academic staff to work in collaboration each other so that better performance of the university in every single sector should be easily achieved.
“I need to thank everyone for the synergy, which ultimately leads to Unila’s better performance” said Karomani. The event was continued by screening the 2020 Unila Kaleidoscope video, showing information and photos of Unila activities during January – December 2020. The Chairperson of the Unila 2020 Kaleidoscope Book Preparation, Dr. Ir. Sutikno, M.Sc., delivered the presentation of the book’s contents. [Public Relations Team]
