(Unila): Rector of the University of Lampung, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hasriadi Mat Akin, M.P., inaugurated 34 student organizations at the Unila Multipurpose Building (GSG) on Thursday (02/21/2019). The inauguration for the period of 2019 was marked by an oath taking of all boards.
The event was attended by Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Karomani; Dean of FEB, Prof. Satria Bangsawan; followed by all vice deans as well as a number of head of unit.
Rector Unila, however, depicted that students are the primary stakeholders in a university. Therefore, a progress otherwise a setback of a higher education is very depended on the students because they occupies a very strategic position in the implementation of the Three Pilars of Higher Education.
Hasriadi emphasized, students should have several competencies so they are able to think critically and creatively as to cooperate, innovate with an entrepreneurial spirit. He added, a high GPA can be replaced by a good character, but not vice versa. A bad character cannot be substituted by a high GPA.
Thus, both hardskills and softskills are very influential in the work-field. Those skills might be derived from the interaction process in an organization. “I am not satisfied having the students with GPA 4.0, but they only know between classrooms and home interaction. I warmly welcome those of you who are pleased and gear up to manage an organization,” he concluded.[PR Team]
