(Unila): Competition is often associated with a measure of success as it can be used as an indicator to convey someone’s performance. Pernanda Purba, a student of the Agronomy Department of the Faculty of Agriculture, Unila commencing 2022, believes that competitions may determine the extent to which a student has a good personal quality as well as an understanding of the competition.

This is Purba’s reasons to keep trying to participate in the competition in biology at the 2024 Indonesian Youth Science Competition (IYSC), National Science Olympiad Festival (Fosnas) and he finally won a gold medal. His attending the completion leads him to be more confident in sorting out the problems quickly, precisely, and accurately in the competition.

Despite having internet problems during the competition, the competition was enjoyable because he did understand the questions so that he could address them properly which in turn resulted in the best performance so that he necessarily boasted his campus, the University of Lampung.

This competition has not only boosted his level of confidence, but also brought him a reputable student among lecturers and Unila academic staff. He encouraged Unila students to keep the spirit of achieving dreams and actively participating in a number of competitions. In the near future, he is to improve his knowledge of biology so that he could participate again the similar competitions.

He suggested that students never ever be afraid of participating in competitions whether they are put in place in either online or offline as attending competitions constitutes a stepping stone to improve achievements, soft skills, and personal abilities. [PR Team]
