(Unila): The Minister of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, inaugurated Prof. Dr. Karomani, M.Si., as the Rector of the University of Lampung for the Period of 2019-2023 at the Ministry of Education and Culture Building on the 3rd floor, Jakarta, Monday (11/25/2019).
After taking the oath of Rector, Nadiem revealed that nearly the future, a rector, is required to be proactive in responding to the progress of science and the development of the industrial world. He stressed that the rector should immediately take concrete steps in order to simplify the bureaucracy to create a more dynamic and professional system.
According to the law, a rector is demanded to carry out the Three Pillars (Tridharma) of Higher Education and prime to produce the bulk of the nation’s leaders of tomorrow. Coinciding with the National Teacher’s Day, the Minister ordered that the rector should conduct an inventory of study programs that many of their graduates remain unemployed because their major does not fit to the work-field.
“I congratulate to carry out the mandate as Rector for the Period of 2019-2023. I also would like to congratulate for the achievements and thank you for the services of the preceding Rector, Prof Hasriadi Mat Akin,” he said.
On the other hand, Prof. Karomani said he would build solidarity and synergy at the University of Lampung. Following the Minister of Education and Culture’s instructions, Karomani will fix the curriculum application base to the future demands, strengthen the human resource and research that cannot be separated from the progress of the university.
“All lecturers should pursue their doctoral degrees even encourage to be professors. We will assist them and provide reinforcement as we do not want to be left behind,” he said.
On the same occasion, the Minister of Education and Culture RI, Nadiem Makarim, also inaugurated and took the oath of Rector of the Andalas University, Prof. Yuliandri S.H, M.H, and Rector of Pattimura University, Prof. Dr. Marthinus Johanes Saptenno S.H., M.Hum. [PR Team]
