(Unila): Dr. Mohammad Sofwan Effendi, the acting rector of Unila along with the Governor of Lampung, Arinal Djunaidi, marked the groundbreaking of the construction of the cassava, oil palm, and sugar cane study center building, Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Uniersity of Lampung (Unila), Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

The groundbreaking ceremony was put in place at the Unila FP Integrated Field Laboratory. Among those in attendance were the Lampung police chief, Inspector General. Pol. Dr. Akhmad Wiyagus, representative of the commander of the 043 Garuda Hitam Military Resort, deans, director of postgraduate program, and a number of Unila academic staff.

According to the dean of FP Unila, Prof. Irwan Sukri Banuwa, the four-storied building is granted by Mr. Widarto from the Sungai Budi Group, on behalf of the family of Mr. Winata. The groundbreaking ceremony simultaneously celebrated the 49th anniversary of FP Unila.

The construction of the cassava, oil palm and sugar cane study center building constitutes a manifestation of support from the grantor to Unila, as well as a symbol of Unila’s revival to recover faster and rise stronger.

Irwan Sukri Banuwa on behalf of FP Unila expressed his sincere gratitude to the grantor. The grant necessarily fosters the development of science and research on cassava, oil palm and sugarcane, particularly in Lampung Province.

Mohammad Sofwan said that the groundbreaking ceremony was a truly happy moment for the Faculty of Agriculture, Unila, on its 49th anniversary, was awarded a grant in the form of a research center furnished with research tools as a legal basis of the Kedaireka matching fund.

The center is expected to make an important contribution to the development of science through research and community service. Moreover, these three sorts of commodities have significant roles on boosting Lampung’s economy.
