(Unila): Competition is not just a place to improve one’s abilities and knowledge, but also a stepping stone to broaden various perspectives, especially in the fields of research and communication.

The competition may encourage students to compete against other students around the country or the globe for their better achievement in their fields as the five students majoring in Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the University of Lampung (Unila) have done.

They won bronze medals at the 6th Digitalised International Invention, Innovation, and Design Competition (DIIID) which was held by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Cawangan Johor, Malaysia in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Unila with the theme “Innovative for Sustainability: Shaping a Brighter Future”.

The social science innovation essay project they created was “Empower Youth Community and Local Culture through the Pentahelix Model at Krui”. This project is one of the innovative essays by developing tourist attractions in Lampung Province, especially the Krui area which is quite famous for its beautiful beaches to foreign countries.

Muthia Putri Maharani Karim, as the group leader, reviewed the process of the competition they participated in, including the goals and relevance to the career plans they would take.

The proposal selection first began with determining the theme related to aspects of communication, social science and empowerment, and aspects of digital media prior to sending it to the organizer.

The topic was chosen as a form of devotion and concern for the issues of tourism, local cultures, and youth empowerment in the Krui area, Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung.

There are several attracting beach spots in Krui to visit but they have not been widely known. The essay is expected to facilitate stake holders to promote other tourism spots in Lampung.

It may also lead to empower the community through volunteer programs of educating children and young people on how to promote tourism spots through social media. The essay completion has motivated students to improve their capability of promoting tourism sites and cultures which in turn leads to a future better life. [PR Team]
