(Unila): Universitas Darma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) commemorates Kartini Day with a variety of activities. One of the activities, a national seminar entitled “With the Spirit of Kartini We Increase the Participation of Indonesian Women in Educating the Nation in the Digital Era” was held.
The event taking place at the Unila Multipurpose Building on Tuesday (4/23/2019) aimed to remember the figure of Kartini as a female emancipation fighter for gender equality.
Kartini struggled to enhance the role of Indonesian women in empowering themselves. Not only appearance but also mindset for being more confident, developed, and independent Indonesian women.
Chairman of the Unila DWP Urip Mulyati Hasriadi said, the activity was a routine agenda carried out by the DWP Unila to commemorate the spirit of Kartini Day. Various series of activities had been held, starting from the inauguration of Child Friendly Schools in Labschool under DWP Unila supervision, recitation, to national seminars.
The national seminar was held in collaboration with the Environmental Research Center, Research Center for Women, Children and Development, Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Unila.
Besides that, various creative dance performances, gamolan music, and stage designs using a concept of vegetables were also presented. The resource person for this national event was Usi Karundeng.
Then Rector of Unila Prof. Hasriadi Mat Akin said, the current leadership of women has shown professionalism in leading and managing, both at the ministerial level and entrepreneurial world.
Hasriadi said, in this millennium, Kartini of Indonesia has not only fought for opportunities for gender equality, counting and reading skills, but also for digital literacy and human literacy whose biggest role today is in women.
He also added, the development period of a child in the golden age phase must receive first and foremost attention from a mother. “There is no one who has no childhood. Therefore, mothers play a very important role to watch the development of a child during his/her golden age,” he concluded.
The event was also attended by vice rectors, deans, and several Unila’s partner representatives such as BTN, BRI, Bukopin, and BNI. [PR Team]
