(Unila): Dinal Azmi, a student of the International Relations Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), University of Lampung (Unila), represented Indonesia at the international event Youth Diplomacy and Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development Goals Conference 2025, which was held in South Korea on December 21-24, 2025.
The conference was attended by delegates from various countries, including Vietnam, South Korea, the Philippines, Iran, and Malaysia. Dinal’s participation in the forum began with his interest in a program that aligned with his passion as a content creator in the fields of education and personal branding.
He registered as a content creator in the Sakola Kita program, and for approximately three months, Dinal consistently produced content every week. This consistency led to his selection as a fully funded awardee in the content creator pathway with the highest engagement, earning him the opportunity to attend a series of conferences in South Korea.
He also revealed that his friends’ support during the selection process was very meaningful because they sincerely helped him in creating content.
Before leaving, Dinal and other participants attended weekly webinar masterclass for three months with various speakers, including Fathia Fairuza, Indra Jaya Wiranata, and Prof. Mochtar Mas’oed.
In addition, participants implemented the project, from planning to execution, over approximately three months. The results of the project were then presented in a project report paper, which served as the primary material for the conference.
During the conference, Dinal was involved in presentation, discussion, and question-and-answer sessions with participants from various Asian countries, such as South Korea, the Philippines, Iran, and Malaysia, which tested his communication and diplomatic skills in international forums.
The conference also included various collaborative activities with several international institutions, including the ASEAN–Korea Center, the Global Green Growth Institute, and the World Bong-gong Foundation. This collaboration provided a platform for exchanging ideas and strengthening international networks among delegates.
The conference discussed three main themes focused on digital transformation: climate change and the environment, highlighting the issues of deforestation and global warming; artificial intelligence (AI) in education; and humanitarian resilience in the face of disasters.
The discussion resulted in a number of outcomes, including the development of a mitigation platform in the form of a website displaying deforestation and pollution data in the Greater Jakarta area, the establishment of an AI training bootcamp targeted for annual sustainability, and digital transformation in disaster mitigation campaigns, especially for students.
Through his participation in this international conference, Dinal gained various new experiences, both in terms of knowledge and practice.
“I gained a new understanding of how to connect and have conversations with people from different countries, how to present and discuss in English, and how to gain new insights into culture and manners at international conferences,” he said.
At the conclusion of the series of activities, Dinal received an award at the graduation ceremony. Out of four individual award categories, competed for by 30 delegates, he won two: Most Favorite Delegate and Best Media Content Delegate.
Through this achievement, Dinal hopes that Unila students will not hesitate to participate in various positive external programs.
The opportunity afforded by the courage to apply, coupled with total commitment and dedication throughout each process, can provide benefits and open up opportunities for self-development at both the national and international levels. [Muzamil Kakar]
