(Unila): Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono, reviewed the construction site for flats (rusunawa) and water reservoirs in the campus area of the University of Lampung (Unila) amid his working visit intervals to Lampung Province accompanying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Thursday, September 2, 2021.

The review by the minister was accompanied by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Unila Alumni Prof. Dr. Yulianto, M.S., head of Regional V Housing Center, Kasatker, and Director General of Natural Resources, Head of BBWS Hall, PPK, bureau heads and leaders in the local campus environment.

“The flat construction gets great progress, reaching more than 30 per cent. The quality of the construction is also good, hopping that it could be maintained until the target is completed by December 2021,” said Minister Basuki.

Unila Flats were set to start on May 24, 2021 and targeted to be completely finished by the end of 2021, costing a large budget of Rp 11.65 billion.

The flats are expected to help students get such a proper place during their study that they can focus more on their study. This is expected to improve their academic achievement, which ultimately leads to significantly increase the number of excellent human resources.

The flats take the form of three-story building with 43 rooms or occupancy units of type 24 with a capacity of 128 students.

Every single unit has been fully furnished, equipped with proper facilities such as, electricity, clean water, 2-level beds, 2-door wardrobe, a desk, and a chair,” explained the Head of the Sumatra V A. Darwis Housing Provision Agency (BP2P).

In addition to flats for student residences, the Ministry of PUPR has also provided the flats and the campus area with water reservoirs.

There are four water reservoirs within the Unila campus area, costing Rp. 14.6 billion. The construction of the water reservoirs, which began on April 9, 2019, was 100% completely finished on December 4, 2019. The reservoirs are  now fully operated.

“The reservoir has a function as a rainwater harvesting area for reserves during the dry season, conservation of water resources, as well as a local tourist park for students and local residents,” said Head of the Water Resources Network Implementation Division of the Mesuji River Basin Sekampung, Riza Fahlevi.

Reservoir A (volume 14,554 m3, area 0.5 ha) which is located in the deer area is a particularly intended to reserve water, with the purpose for both soil fertility and drinking water for the deer in the cage.

Reservoir B (volume 22,936 m3, area 0.96 Ha) is on purpose to process and infiltrate water from 2 flat buildings and their surroundings as well as from housing around the campus near the bus terminal.

Meanwhile, reservoir C or medical reservoir around the Faculty of Medicine is grouped into two, C1 (volume 3,462 m3, area 0.17 Ha) and C2 (volume 3,303 m3, area 0.14 Ha), which functions as a pond water but both of them have similar function in common, reserving and infiltrating water from the campus environment, Faculty of FKIP, MIPA, Medicine, and the surroundings.

Reservoir D (volume 7,735 m3, area 0.38 Ha) or the Faculty of Engineering reservoir which is located across GSG and near the bypass road is particularly aimed to reserve water from the Faculty of Engineering, Economics, Law, and Libraries, and the surroundings. [PR Team]
