(Unila): The Centre for Indonesian Medical Students’ Activities (CIMSA) at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Lampung (Unila), through SCOPH CIMSA FK Unila, has once again organised the BRONCHUS 2.0 programme (Building Awareness and Knowledge about Tuberculosis) as a manifestation of concern regarding the persistently high incidence of tuberculosis (TB) within the community.

This initiative was executed in collaboration with the Lions Club, involving the youth of Karang Taruna from Langkapura District as participants on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

Prior to the main event, the organising committee participated in a series of pre-activities at Dijis Kopi Cafe & Resto, Lampung. During this session, the committee received training on TB from Yusuf Aulia Rahman, Sp.PD-KPTI, and Public Health Trainer Alimatunnisa Qurrotuaini to ensure the smooth execution of the programme.

The main activity of BRONCHUS 2.0 was designed to be interactive, whereby participants not only received educational material but were also actively engaged in discussions and practical exercises. This method aimed to facilitate a better understanding of TB education and to foster a sustainable impact on the participants.

The educational material was presented by Public Health Trainer Christoforus Prabowo, who provided a comprehensive explanation regarding TB, including its definition, risk factors, symptoms, modes of transmission, and preventive measures. Furthermore, participants were encouraged to recognise the strategic role of youth in disseminating accurate health information within their communities.

The programme continued with a focus group discussion (FGD), which divided participants into small groups. In this session, participants discussed the state of TB in the community, the challenges of prevention, and formulated solutions that youth could implement to support efforts in preventing the disease.

As a means of reinforcing healthy living practices, the event also featured a workshop on the production of hand sanitiser using aloe vera. Through this session, participants not only gained knowledge but also hands-on experience in applying clean and healthy living behaviours.

The Project Officer for the event, Ratu Aqila Passa, stated that BRONCHUS 2.0 aims to enhance community awareness regarding TB while empowering youth as health cadres.

“Through this initiative, it is hoped that Karang Taruna can serve as an extension in disseminating education regarding prevention, early detection, and the importance of TB treatment to the community,” she remarked.

The collaboration between CIMSA FK Unila, Lions Club, and Karang Taruna of Langkapura District represents a significant force in the implementation of this activity. This synergy is expected to expand the impact of health education within the community.

Through BRONCHUS 2.0, it is anticipated that community awareness regarding the prevention and management of TB will increase, thereby encouraging the active participation of the younger generation in fostering a healthier environment and being more attentive to health issues. [Gandhi Irawan]
