Having status as the oldest engineering faculty in Lampung Province, Faculty of Engineering of University of Lampung (FT Unila) is advancing through the recognition of its good management system as a certified ISO 9001:2008 last year. The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials Research and Testing (IAPMO R&T), licensed as the certifying agency from the USA, audited FT Unila in December 2015. IAPMO R&T emphasized on registration service and effectiveness on management system.
“As a result, ISO 9001:2008 is certified to FT Unila as an international recognition to FT Unila management system. This achievement is to be appreciated and we should be grateful, as thankfulness will bring more blessings to our life,” said Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Suharno.
Prof. Suharno, also a professor in geophysics, said that obtaining ISO took a long process of almost a year. It started at the early of 2015 and was realized at the end of 2015. This long process included careful selection of the team to prepare for the certification. Therefore, he continued, the success of achieving ISO must be followed by a sincere gratitude as the process itself was not effortless. This gratitude must also be reflected in the institution service to its stakeholders through improvement of services in education, research and community service.
On the 37th anniversary of FT Unila, Prof. Suharno also requests to all elements of FT Unila, from students, administration staff, academic staffs and alumni, to promote and maintain good recognition of FT Unila. All alumni are obliged to prove themselves as good alumni of FT Unila,” said Prof. Suharno. After the ceremony, Prof. Suharno promises that in the near future, FT Unila will keep on improving its quality, playing a more active role in assisting government by independently supervising the implementation of government programs, evaluating construction of regulations, expanding international relation and cooperation.
Adding to that, improving facilities and infrastructure of the faculty, for example extending land occupation and additional building for class rooms and library, are also important to be addressed, claimed Prof. Suharno.
