(Unila): Antomi Saregar, a student of the Doctoral Program in Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) University of Lampung (Unila), successfully defended his dissertation in the doctoral promotion exam held on Thursday, January, 2026, in the K Hall of FKIP Unila.
In the exam, Antomi earned a score of 92.72 and was officially recognized as the 25th graduate of the Doctoral Program in Education. This achievement was achieved through a dissertation entitled “An Inquiry-Based Disaster Mitigation Learning Model to Improve Disaster Literacy and Smart Risk-Taking Behavior in Physics.”
This research highlights the importance of strengthening disaster mitigation education in Indonesia, particularly in response to potential earthquakes that could trigger tsunamis. Through his research, Antomi developed the PINTAR-Bencana Model, an inquiry-based disaster mitigation learning model designed to be integrated into Physics subjects at the elementary and secondary levels.
This model aims to improve disaster literacy while developing students’ ability to make intelligent and appropriate decisions in risky situations (smart risk-taking behavior).
The inquiry approach in the PINTAR-Disaster Model encourages students to actively ask questions, investigate, and analyze physical phenomena related to disasters. This model emphasizes not only mastery of academic concepts but also the development of attitudes, risk awareness, and disaster preparedness in everyday life.
The PINTAR-Disaster model is presented to teachers, students, and all stakeholders in the education ecosystem as a reference for developing educational and safety-oriented curricula and learning activities. Thus, this model is expected to produce a more resilient and disaster-prepared young generation.
The doctoral promotion exam presented a team of examiners consisting of Chief Examiner Prof. Dr. Ayi Ahadiat, SE, MBA; Examiner I Dr. Viyanti, S.Pd., M.Pd.; Examiner II Dr. Dina Maulina, S.Pd., M.Si.; Internal Examiner Dr. Albet Maydiantoro, M.Pd.; and External Examiner Prof. Dr. Parmin, S.Pd., M.Pd. from Tidar University (Untidar) Magelang.
Acting as Promoter was Prof. Dr. Sunyono, M.Si., with Co-Promoter I Prof. Dr. I Wayan Distrik, M.Si. and Co-Promoter II Dr. Dra. Nurhanurawati, M.Pd. This success is one of Unila’s academic contributions in supporting the strengthening of disaster education in Indonesia through the integration of disaster mitigation into science learning.
