(Unila): Aidila Fitri Yana, one of Unila students, won a gold medal in the Indonesian Olympiad of Science (IOS) for the field of Biology held by the Indonesian Achievement Foundation (Presmanesia) on March 12, 2023, in Yogyakarta. Aidila expressed her happiness for her winning of the gold medal.
At first, she had no hope for a gold medal in the competition as the participants were very tightly selected. She was motivated by her seniors who had previously won the competition, believing she had the potential to be the winner of the competition as she is interested in trying something new.
During the preparation of competition, she found no significant constraints. But, she found it slightly difficult to manage her time for attending lectures and sorting out overwhelming assignments.
During the competition, participants were required to complete a number of issues within the set time limit. Aidila admitted that she had problems with the internet network suddenly disrupting when the competition was in progress.
But, she was finally able to complete the tasks in the last two minutes before the time was over. She felt very excited for winning this competition and she thanked family, friends, and her campus for their supports. This, she said, motivated her to take part in this competition.
She also shared her tricks to friends who wish to participate in such challenging competitions to always keep the spirit and never to become discouraged by failures in competition as the failures can be used as reflections for better results in the future.
She also suggested that students not be easily satisfied with what they have achieved, continuing to learn so that achievement would be made.
For her, this achievement is regarded as the credit to support her study, hopping that this achievement leads to her academic journey which in turn will ease the success in the future career. [PR Team]
